IKIGAI

A philosophy

Ikigai is a word coming from Japan that has no exact translation in other languages. “Iki” means to “be alive” and “Gaï” means “worth living”.  Ikigaï is the meaning of life, our reason for being and living. The notion of “being alive” does not only mean breathing but also represents that we live, conscious of our emotions, conscious of the impulses within us that set ourselves in motion.

According to the Japanese, everyone has an Ikigai. Natives of Okinawa island explain Ikigai is the reason why we get up in the morning.

Knowing your Ikigai allows you to use your strengths, your talents, your skills, your desires for yourself and for the others. Too often, we don't know why we get up in the morning, what makes us vibrate. When you know why, when you discover your “reason for being and living”, you get the feeling to contribute to the world, in your very own way.

The Ikigai philosophy embrace the notion of change as we are evolving through our lives. We are evolving despite our fears, our wounds, even our resistance to change. Your “reason for being and living” evolve during life. However, being connected as much as possible to your Ikigaï at any stage of your life is the best path to a meaningful life.
